About the artworks
Zsuzsa Moizer is among the best-known exponents of contemporary Hungarian figurative painting. She is especially renowned for her oil paintings and watercolours, while sculptures and installations are also present in her work. After graduating from university she painted self-portraits in which she depicted anthropomorphous figures of herself disguised as various animals. Since the start of her career, her art has been defined by the sensitive medium of paper. Whereas she previously worked in watercolours, in recent years she has preferred pencil.
The starting point of her characteristically soft-toned line drawings is still the human body and its metamorphoses. Often a small detail, a part of the body, an arm or torso emerging from an informel space is enough to conjure up before us the story she wishes to relate: the magic of contact, connection, interdependence, and merging together, reliance on one another, finding release and reflection in each other, shining in one another’s light, the story of You, of Me, of Us.
